Just hanging around wondering if we’ll get any trick or treaters. Even pre-pandemic it was way less than back in Chicagoland.
We are expecting zero trick-or-treaters, but we did buy a bag of candy, just in case. Our driveways are 200+ feet long, and the kids in our neighborhood all go to a circle area, where the driveways aren’t so long and they get more “payoff” for their work
We freaked out our first year here, when we had our kids and their friends and opened our door and noticed our street was dark. Had to call a neighbor and learn what to do.
Lots so far. Next year I’ll have a proper costume for my dog. She is sitting by the window, just watching.
233 trick or treaters in 45 minutes. I’m out of candy and had to shut off all the lights. In a normal year, we’d get 400, but this year I expected far fewer because of covid, blocking off our street to cars, and predicted rain showers. I was wrong and so was the weatherperson.
I have just one snicker bar left, so I shifted to Cheetos and Pringles. I do have 2 bags of small chocolate candies left.
We moved here a year ago next week, so it’s our first Halloween in the neighborhood. Weren’t sure how many kids to expect - have been handing out candy for 2 hours. We are almost out and it’s really dark out. Just unpinned our house from the Nextdoor treat map and turned off all the outside lights. Our city trick-or-treat hours are from 5:30 - 8:30 pm (Eastern time).
We don’t have T or T hours. They show up when they show up. We put out a bowl and replenished regularly. Sign said “take two” which kept people honest till the last half hour or so. All gone now.
A young man up the street from us does an amazing H extravaganza with music, fog machine, black lights, full-size animatronic figures, etc. So we get a LOT of visitors.
We have township TorT hours, 6 - 7:30. We ended up with more than 50 this year, which is more than in recent years. I am so glad to see more kids in our neighborhood! My D lives in a nice neighborhood with lots of kids, but apparently they don’t TorT … she had 7 kids, and she said most houses on her street were dark. Her D is only 10 months, so they didn’t go out this year … I told her she can TorT here when GD is ready!
We were out of candy at 7pm. Turned off the outside lights and put on the Simpsons Halloween marathon.
H and I were out walking in FIL’s neighborhood (in VA) just to get some exercise today. We didn’t see any TTers. However, as we were just about back to FIL’s house a lady called out from her porch asking if we were trick or treating. H said, “No.” I said, “Unfortunately our youngest is 25, so we’re a wee bit old for it.” She called back, “Wait little boy - come here!” in a fun manner so we walked up her walk. She gave H two full sized Hershey bars as we told her who we were and discussed FIL. They’re part of the neighborhood who watches out for him when neither BIL nor us are here.
Gotta really love nice neighborhoods.
I gave my bar to FIL.
Only about a dozen or so trick or treaters, but they were all very happy that we gave out full size bars! They all seem to be saying “Happy Halloween” rather than “Trick or Treat.”
Our new neighbor who went all out with decorations is no doubt disappointed.
Also would anyone like M&Ms or Snickers? I gave out the other stuff early on…
We did our neighborhood street crawl…progressive dinner. We started at 2…and it was really nice doing a lot in daylight. Plus it was warm. Ended at the neighbor’s fire pit for desserts and other foods. It was great. Seven families participated. Lots of great food…all outdoors. Just a lot of fun!
Happy Halloween CC’ers! I never get Trick or Treaters, but I had a Halloween gathering last night. Here’s my guy!
Same here with the very long driveway. We got one group of middle school age kids.
Happy Halloween all…
Our subdivision does both adult and kid trick or treat. Theres a porta potty set up. People from all over come to our subdivision which is a 1 mile circle. Most people set up firepits at the end of their driveways and hand out candy there.
Our house is well-known to have it all besides candy (and nut free and dairy free options.) Hand sanitizer, kleenex, even dog treats. We had real food for the diabetic dad. And of course booze for the adults.
My son was excited for trick or treaters now that he lives in a house … but no one stopped by. Bummer.
We didn’t hand out candy last year and this year seemed lighter than before.
Our town hours were 4 to 8 which is ridiculous but we had a few groups, probably around 50.
Used to live in a neighborhood where we had hundreds and that was too much. Here and there is much more relaxing. Hundreds are overwhelming.
H and I sat on the porch from 4:30-6:30 and handed out what we bought. It seemed lighter than most years, but the city started a big party at the pavilion a few years back and I think more are hanging out there. But after dinner at Jersey Mike’s, we came home and the streets were packed. I participated enough. I’m good. Saw a few runny noses but nobody coughed on me this time (pre-covid that was a given). Glad we had our booster shot especially since H had to work two hours at their school’s party. Hundreds of people indoors. From the pictures I saw, many had masks but many did not.
Here’s a pic of our tree. Fall is late year this year. Usually most fall down the week before Halloween.
