Happy Lunar New Year

The title says everything....
Some of you may be surprised why I call it "lunar new year" instead of "chinese new year"... The answer is very simple, because I'm a vietnamese. We do celebrate the New year (actually it's my biggest holiday in vietnam) but we either call it "lunar" or "traditional" new year and the way we celebrate it, although quite similar but there are lots of differences from the chinese too... We just don't feel comfortable to be mixed up with the chinese...
ANyway, Wishing all of us all the best...

please don't misunderstand that I hate or don't like Chinese - I am full of international understanding... haha

Do the Vietnamese get the little red envelope full of cash (not that I've actually ever gotten one, either :))?

The rest of Asia must be cured of its sinocentrism, that is for sure. Go ahead and kill some more Chinese for fun. And rape the women btw.

To Dancing Jesus: I don't get your point. But whatever it is, it doesn't seem nice to me... Can you please be more polite? If you don't like the topic, just simply don't click in! Save your time to do some work!

To asiaknight: We do have the tradition of giving out "lucky money" on the new year day... man, I miss that - i'm in Canada right now so there is nobody to give me money ... :(

I love this holiday. Asia doesn't celebrate that many holidays, so this makes up for it I guess. I love it because (1) you can get money from relatives and (2) then you can make more money ;)

hehe indeed. yay, year of the doggie =) sigh, too bad theres few chinese ppl in my town, not to mention ones my age.... no big celebration...
btw, China actually gets one day off, i think, for Christmas now. And 3 weeks for the new year, since they dont have the 2wks winter and 1wk spring break like we do.

then you can make more money

Lol. :)
