Is your bedroom dark enough? I’m getting up earlier now that we have windows open and the shades pulled down a bit (from the top). The light in the bedroom wakes me up; as soon as I look at the clock I’m up for the day.
One of the first things my sleep program recommended was getting rid of the bedside clock. We now keep the phones and alarm in the bathroom. Can still hear it but can’t see it.
That’s my S’s dream life!
I would like to know how people are spending their time staying up until 2am, on purpose! Are you doing sedentary things like reading or watching tv? Or are you doing active things like cleaning the house or a hobby?
Hope all enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day. I “slept in” until 7:30 (after a brief awake period from my normal 5:45 - 6:15 or so).
Back in the day, I could easily sleep from 10pm-11am. Not so much anymore. But as someone posted already, my total hours of sleep is fine - I’m a 10-5:45 person. Can’t keep my eyes open past 10pm and struggle to keep them closed come early morning.
I just naturally wake up on workdays at 6 am and sleep in until 7 to 7:30 on the weekend. I go to bed by 10 pm and normally stay asleep for the night. I may wake up once, but don’t have an issue falling back to sleep. H has some sleep issues and wakes up once or more during the night and sometimes can’t fall back to sleep.
My mom is someone who has always been able to sleep late and can easily sleep 10 hours or more a night even at 81.
We talked about this on the I love you but I don’t want to sleep with you thread—some of us sleep much better/sounder alone. It was hard for me to adjust when DH came off the road after 17 years of 100% travel. I think some sleep issues are due to the sleep patterns/movements/noises of a bed partner.
I am a terrible sleeper. I got up very early for work, for decades, and every minute counted in my quest to get out the door. When I retired I liked nothing more than to sit at the table in the morning reading or whatever, while drinking my lattes and petting my cat. I wake up multiple times almost every night. I probably usually get up by 7:30or so, with the help of my alarm clock, but I could easily sleep much later on nights when I’m awake for hours during the night.
OK— sounds like a lot of us are up in the middle of the night! Even though it’s considered not a good idea to have screen time when awake if we want to get back to sleep…… well… just in case many of us check our phones while in the “reading room” or have trouble sleeping, I’ll go ahead and start a thread for the insomniacs chat!
Will there be rules? Posting is only allowed between 2am and 6am???
It’s always 5 am/pm somewhere
