Thanks guys
@Kinkam Just use the formula for the area of a trapezoid, and it’s straightforward.
Area = (1/2)(base1 + base2)height
Area = (1/2)(10+12)6
Area = 66
Answer: E
Also btw, the “2” labelings you made are incorrect (Why?).
To add to MITer,
1/2 × (B1+B2) translated is just the average of the two bases.
An easy way to remember how to find the Area of a Trapezoid is
the average of the bases times the height.
Thanks guys! mmk that advice really helped.
@MITer94 I don’t know why I made that now that I think about it, I was over thinking it and “tried” to use stuff that I was learning in Pre-Calc lol
I googled the formula for area of a trapezoid but for some odd reason, I got 72. That’s why I circled it, and each time I put it in my calculator, I would get 72. It was probably some order-of-operations type error. If you look at the side, I added up the two bases, multiplied it by 6 and divided it. however, each time I did that, I got 72. It was so confusing as to why the formula didn’t work so I just ended up posting here. But now I know that the you multiply the height by the AVERAGE of the bases, thanks to you guys!
