French omg i’m taking it now and its so hard T_T its like english class but in french so we actually have to sound intelligent when we write stuff

Definitely AP Chem…I haven’t taken it yet, and I’m probably not going to after all the things I’ve been hearing about it. The class currently has, like, 12 kids cuz everyone else dropped. and the highest scoring student gets Bs on all the tests…:o

Lang or US

APUSH
People also complain about AP chem, but EVERYONE complains about APUSH.

A lot of freshman/sophomore complain about AP Bio, and AP World History, but having taken the former and being in the latter, they’re really not that bad. The first test sucks, but after you learn how to study for each class, then it gets easier.

AP Chem and AP Art History are notoriously the hardest classes at my school. In the latter, taking the former next year. ;)

Some people complain about AP English as well, but not too much. Same goes for APUSH, but as far as I’ve seen, the hardest part of that class seems to be the reading.

Heard it is AP English Literature & Composition.

AP Music Theory

APUSH AP Stats and AP Bio

APUSH and AP Chem have the reputation of being hardest at my school. I didn’t take either, but I feel that AP Chem is way harder based off the comments I’ve heard. The students in AP Chem tend to be top students in multiple AP classes, whereas APUSH
students tend to be lower-level students with only 1, maybe 2 AP classes.

AP Physics, AP Calculus, AP Bio, and AP Language round out the top half (my school has 12 AP classes).

Instead of citing anecdotes, how about we use some facts:

<a href=“2012 AP Exam Score Distributions”>2012 AP Exam Score Distributions;

Environmental Science is the hardest AP, per the passing rate is 47%; 53% of the students who take the AP exam will fail it. World History is not far behind, 52% of the people who take it will fail.

You can’t really go off those percentages though.

Different APs have different reputations.
Env. Science is notorious for being super easy, so a lot of low-level students would take that class and take the exam, hence the low pass rate.

World History is taken by mostly freshman/sophomores who have had little experience in AP classes (it is most likely their first one). Therefore, many will fail it.

And really, the difficulty does range throughout schools. Teachers are all differnent. The AP bio teacher at my school years ago made it his duty to really prepare his class, and many people got 5s/4s on the test. Then he left, and the new one didn’t care as much/wasn’t as good a teacher, and I was the only one in the class of ~20 that got a 5 (only a couple got 4s).

And chemistry, which in many schools is crazy hard, is not bad in my school. We have an awesome teacher who teaches really well (so well that we have the largest AP chem. program in the nation with over 100 students taking it this year). Many, many people get 5s in my school.

At my school it used to be Calc BC, but they shortened Chem to one semester so I would definitely say AP Chem.

AP Lang/Comp. Highest grade ever given was a B+. Class average is a C-. Never took it, never will.

@jerlie WOW AP chem in one semester? My school has AP chem as the only class with 2 periods (twice the time than all other classes)

I think the hardest AP to get an A in at my school is AP Spanish Lit, because the teacher teaches the course beyond what you need for the Spanish Lit exam. Our school is in latin america so she expects us to be much better than the curve for a 5 on the exam. Subsequently, if you take her class and survive through it with a C, you are guaranteed a 5.

On the other end, the hardest AP to get a 5 in is probably AP Chem, the teacher is really bad. The course has been taught by him for like 10 years and only one person has gotten a 5.

I’ve heard that APUSH and AP Chemistry are the hardest at my school. I’ve never taken APUSH, but I might be taking AP Chem next year (it’s between chem and bio, and I feel that chem might be better for me in some kind of engineering or physics major).

AP Physics. I was too scared to take it. :P

AP Chem and Physics B are a tie for the two hardest classes I’ve taken at my school. I did fine in chem but was not well prepared for the test (got a 4) because the teacher made the class slightly easier than she should have. I did great (A both semesters and 5 on test) in Physics B because I love physics, and because the teacher taught well, the difficulty stemmed from the massive amount of material that has to be covered in that class.

AP Calculus, yikes.

AP Lang is super hard at my school. the teacher set it up so that the highest grade possible is an A minus. She is also the AP coordinator. She thinks that getting the extra 1.0 weight boost actually makes up for it

There are 3 AP classes that are all considered the hardest
AP Calculus BC (currently taking this, hard as hell)
AP Physics (taking this next year)
AP English Literature (taking next year)
