@amyisraelchai - posts 180 and 187 reached out to Harvard yesterday … response was about the same - “we are working on it, give us a week or so”. Also - based on last year, if that can be any real basis - first notifications were made on the 15th of May. So in either instance, Monday would appear to be the earliest that people should expect to hear. Anything before then would be nice - but not expected.
A friend got a call saying he was off the waitlist. Sadly, it was his friends pranking him…
(Not Harvard)
@amyisraelchai Why not call yourself?

Harvard will admit 40-50 from waitlist
So 40-50 students from the waitlist for the class of 2020, that means a few more for the Z-List. This is interesting. Note that the 93 students accepted from last year included Z-Listers
Wow! That is very important news to hear!
They say there are slightly less hispanics this year (11% vs 12%), so yippy for me! Hopefully the Harvard gods will look favorably upon my application. At the same time, I would be sad to say goodbye to Northeastern as I am already getting in touch with many professors in the school of engineering and science. So, acceptance or denial, just be happy with where you are going already as I definitely am.
Offers are being made.
@hola1997, what do you mean, “a few more for the Z-list?” Does that mean they will take 40-50 from the waitlist for the fall enrollment, plus an additional number (how many?) for the Z-List for spring enrollment? If I interpret what you are saying correctly then maybe there will be 70-90 kids in total from the wait list given option to enroll?
Yield is a deceptive number… (number of students who matriculate)/(number of students offered admission on or before March 31). Because the number of students who matriculate in the fall includes a significant number of z-listers from the previous cycle and students admitted after May 1, the actual yield is less than the published number.
The percent of students offered admission in March who matriculate in the fall appears to be a closely guarded secret, but is probably less than 70%
@northstarfx : Yes your original interpretation about 40-50 kids for the fall enrollment and additional people for the Z-List is accurate. We do not know how many people are offered on the Z-List, that list has been obscured in recent years. 70-90 kids are based on the statistics from last year. People on the Z-List will be enrolling for the class of 2021.
2 of my friends got off today! I wonder if they sent out all waitlist offers today.
Also since they have a surplus of Asian Americans, will they not be taking any off the waitlist? The two friends of mine who got off were Hispanic and African american.
How do we find out if we are released from the waitlist (sans offer of admission)?
My D got an offer today as well.
@carlson2 @Sunny761 What time did your friends/D get off the waitlist? Were they called? I would assume they won’t accept many Asian Americans from their waitlist.
They were called at 5 PM EST. That’s unfortunate, hopefully it pulls through!
Do you know if there are more waves to the waitlist?
My guess is many of us will be released from the WL tomorrow.
Wow, so it looks like calls have been made already. But I hear some Hispanic got in, so maybe there is news for me in the coming days. Would a Harvard Med School professor’s reference help?
i have two missed calls from Cambridge, Massachusetts from 1:44 PST
