Starting this for waitlist applicants. What are the chances of coming off the waitlist?
Hello - congrats on making the wait list! Harvard just published this article about undergraduate admission this year, and it has some hopeful statistics about the waitlist: http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2018/3/29/harvard-regular-admissions-2022/
Congratulations again, and best of luck!
hey i was waitlisted too:)
Any information on how many are actually on the waitlist?
Harvard has not released the size of the WL (and won’t, if history is a guide)
D waitlisted in NY. Admitted to Cornell.
Harvard plans to take 40-50 possibly even 100 off the waitlist this year! Good luck to everyone fingers crossed
Does Harvard ever take spring admit or guaranteed transfer like Cornell?
@Junior010 , that sounds a good news. where did you get it from?
No
lol waitlisted at all 5 ivies I applied to, but still excited that I wasn’t rejected! We will see what happens!
@Junior010
There is no accurate information currently regarding the waitlist. Harvard will begin looking at waitlisted students in May continuing through June and maybe July. Last year no one got in from the waitlist but that was 1st time in a decade and given low acceptance rate this year, likely students will be admitted from the waitlist. No one knows how many until commitments from accepted students are in.
I read that quote from Fitzsimmons “50-100 people, maybe more” from waitlist… But again there won’t be an accurate estimate until yield from admitted students is tallied. I do think that there will be waitlist admits but if for whatever reason more than 85% of those accepted matriculate then there won’t be.
Hello Everyone! I am wait listed at Harvard but have the Regents Scholarship at Berkeley. If I accept Berkeley by May 1st, am I allowed to renege on it if I get into Harvard? I heard something like if you pay $200 deposit then you are allowed to do that. Would appreciate any info on this.
Yes. All waitlisted applicants should accept a place at another college and pay the deposit. For the relatively few students who get off the waitlist, there is no issue turning down another acceptance, although you’d likely lose the deposit. See the below link:

@skieurope Thank you so much!
HI! Got waitlisted too
I guess that there are approximately 1050 students waitlisted in Harvard (there are 1012 one yale) and I hope 100 will be accepted
admit to waitlist ratio could be high as 1:2.7 or 1:3
