Harvard Class of 2023 Waitlisted Discussion

Read the above: The AO said the admissions committee will reject/accept waitlisted applicants in waves until July 1st. In previous years, however, the process went until mid-July.

Nothing new yet

Friday after 5:00 PM second round of rejections/admissions will be posted in the portal.

So that means accepted people will hear back today. They usually call 3-5 right?

@thebly last wave it seemed like there were a few people called as early as 12 and as late as 6, but they may have been internationals. They prefer to call students after school hours, so 3-5 is the golden hour

Does Friday contain both rejects and admits? Or is today the only day with admits?

Are we sure that accepted students will hear this afternoon? Today is Harvard’s graduation which makes me doubt that the Admissions Office will be making any calls.

They’re probably not calling today: the guy who called the AO stated on this CC thread that the AO told him that the admissions committee will reject/accept people this Friday.

Yeah that’s official acceptance stuff. The call is always the day before

Guess we’ll see soon then.

I doubt they’re accepting people today. Today is graduation with Angela Merkel.

That was early this morning though. Already happened

Nevermind I was wrong. She’s speaking until 4:15. They could still call then, but it seems unlikely now.

Anyone hear anything?

I guess not

Which schools y’all have as your back up plan?

At this stage I wouldn’t categorize everyone’s current choices as back up plans, but DD has accepted WashU

Cornell A & S

I believe the last of the waitlist acceptances for this year’s class is the very beginning of June. I do believe this is the very latest of the waitlist acceptances. I believe z-list acceptances aren’t notified until mid-July. Best of luck!

FWIW: Harvard needs a final Official High School Transcript for every student admitted from the waitlist BEFORE that student can move into freshman housing or register for classes (let alone receive a tuition bill from the bursar’s office). As most high schools in the US close during the months of July and August, the waitlist agony thankfully ends by mid-to-late June. Z-list acceptances can theoretically go until August, as those students are taking a gap year and their official transcripts can be received after September.
