Harvard Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Guys can you give me some advice.

I had an climbing profile for my grades 9 and 10 and in sophomore year of high school I was ranked amongst top 1.5% students in the national examinations. In class 11 before my final examinations I was suffering from viral fever and was hospitalized prior to the examinations. My grades dropped down and I got a B in mathematics which is also my favourite subject but I was still able to secure a rank in top 5 students of the school. I have mentioned this in extra information section at common app but will this affect my chances of admission?

You were not rejected because of typos.

What was your overall GPA?

Actually, nevermind. You are ranked in the top five. You’ll be fine in the academic category. If your in the top 5% of your class, I think they will just focus on other things.

My school doesn’t count GPA but in 9th class I had secured 91% marks and in 10th class I decided 97% marks but in 11th I dropped down to 86% marks due to health conditions. How much this will affect?

Maybe but the overall story is that I am rejected :no_mouth:

how many honors, AP, or IB courses did you guys take? (including this year)

my school doesn’t offer many, but with senior year I’ve taken 6/8 of the AP courses offered, as well as 8 honors courses.

No. The overall story us that there are many amazing colleges out there for which you are a strong candidate. Look forward.

My school doesn’t offer any AP or Honours courses and I can’t afford to change my school. It’s a nationally reputed school and it’s also the top ranked public school in my nation. Due to the unavailability of AP or Honours courses I have taken the toughest course available in my school. Will not studying AP or Honours classes will degrade my application?

I thought you couldn’t apply early action to both Harvard and Stanford. Have the rules changed?

Based on your profile, you EA to Stanford, Harvard, and Yale? Big red flag…

Yale too?

I thought you could only do one early action out of the big 4 HYPS.

You can’t apply early action to Stanford, Harvard, and Yale too.

i did but my college counselors said a significant amount of ppl didn’t

Harvard, Yale, and Stanford are all restrictive early action. Based on articles, selective colleges may cross reference applicants and disclose them.

“… and Fretwell says she’d likely also share the names of students who were admitted via early decision, but who are not attending for financial aid and other reasons.”

Grammarly?

Not that anyone will care but here are my stats:

  • applied test optional
  • graduated with a mixture of A’s, B’s & 1 C’s { my mom was diagnosed with cancer so I had to miss classes at times to take care of her}
  • founder of a nonprofit that works with high achieving low income students { provide free SAT training, college guidance and counselling. the nonprofit has helped students get into MIT, Dartmouth and Vanderbilt. I have had admissions officers hold virtual info sessions with some of my students}.
  • involved in youth leadership at a continent level
  • creative writer
  • country country runner
  • and I took a gap year.
  • my personal statement is about how losing my mother to cancer changed me.

I haven’t gotten an interview yet { doubt at all if I will} and I don’t think I will get into Harvard. Thought I’d share.

Great stats, and I think that your stories are compelling with all your activities. If this makes you feel better, I haven’t gotten an interview too!

Here are my sats!

I have lived in 3 countries with Nigeria been more than 7 years. I experienced gender discrimination and a lack of So good technological education. I founded a student organization that brings virtual technology education to medical students at a university. I have students from (Canada, U.S, and Nigeria) as a part of the organization. Also, being a part of ASB as a commissioner, I founded health week at my school, interned for a real estate firm, an intern for a congressman in Michigan, went to Mexico to teach students, tutored at the library. By the way, I live in the United States now. Oh, I also went to a boarding school at the age of 9.

Essays: Talk about my organization, and how my parents are divorced, and the struggle of growing up with an extended family in my grandparents’ house = discrimination from my male cousins.

In my Harvard portal, they don’t have any information about whether they received the “other recommendation” and supplementary essay. Is that normal? Does it only show the bare minimum you need for application?

I submitted it through the portal on like the 7th November.

Wow that’s crazy!! Good job! I have 5APs, 1 IBHL, and 1 IBSL only haha
