Harvard Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Thank you, but I still feel like online interviews could have still been doable, especially this year out of all the ones so far due to the pandemic? I keep finding conflicting information online on if not receiving an interview is indicative of not being competitive. I’ve read that if someone is truly not competitive, then Harvard won’t even bother to interview them or that they do some sort of high to low priority interview system. At the same time, I’ve read that interviews are solely based on availability and nothing else. I’m just stressed and confused.

I think they wanted local interviewers despite being virtual for better perspectives. An interviewer living in NY would not best fit with an interviewee from Alaska.

Interviewers are a finite commodity. And assuming you have an alum that is willing to interview, they are only going to do X interviews.

If an interviewer is not available, an interviewer is not available.

Didn’t say that. But first gen is not as strong as an athletic tecruit, as an example.

I had a recommendation written by a Harvard medical school professor that I shadowed and interned with, would this help my application?

Simply by virtue of being a Harvard professor? No. An equally strong LoR from a Yale professor would hold the same weight.

Certainly not the case bro if I hadn’t been rejected due to my REA scandal then I would have been certainly at Stanford maybe. I was offered an interview at Stanford and it lasted for a hour but see I am rejected maybe due to my scandal or maybe not.

I have contacted the admissions authorities and I am still waiting for a befitted reply, though I have made my decision if Harvard releases its decision first then I would withdraw out of Yale to show my preference and try to explain them about this scandal on my own and vice versa. And if I am simply rejected due to this scandal then also it’s okay.

Continuing the discussion from Harvard 2025 Admissions Thread:

Hey guys, you all are really great people and I couldn’t imagine talking with people who were sharing the same level of anxiety as I am. I would have loved to be with you as a freshman at Harvard but I cant explain my stupidity. I would be here in this thread praying for you all, atleast someone should be there to tell my story to the world. All the best guys for your decisions.

Thank you so much. I am so sorry you had to withdraw your applications. :frowning:
Fingers crossed everyone on this thread gets an acceptance letter!

Fun fact: I haven’t withdrawn yet but most probably going to face rejection now.

You applied REA to Stanford, Harvard, and Yale? You really need to tell them. If you are accepted at one of these schools and they find out after, they will likely rescind the decision. They will not support a student who cheats before they even attend the school. Just ask to switch to RD. But you should do it before Wednesday when decisions come out. Sorry about this, but think of all the thousands of students here who followed the rules and chose one school REA/SCEA. Cheating the system before even attending is a bad rep to have. Good luck and hope it works out!

My uncle interviews for Harvard. There is no priority to interviews at all. They are all done by volunteer community alums, and are always limited by availability. Virtual is not the issue… volunteers only offer to do x number per year and that’s all they do. They are assigned by regional volunteer coordinators in your area randomly as they become available. There aren’t extra volunteers somewhere that pick up areas that don’t have volunteers often but they try. It means nothing not getting one. And, in fact, they more often hurt than help. The AO knows what they think of you on paper…a volunteer alum is not gonna change that unless they are very unimpressed! Stop worrying about it. Good luck!

in the contacts section when there’s an option for “conversation w/alum” do grad school alums count?

Heyy, international REA applicant here.
I was digging around these days and found out that Harvard in the last 7-8 years released admission notifications for EA either on the 12th or 13th of December (info from college kickstart). I was wondering why I havent gotten anything yet. Im rly itching to see whether I got in . Any answer or insight is appreciated

Yeah, as an international, I was thinking of the same thing. I’ve also noticed that Harvard tends to release decisions on either Tuesdays or Thursdays during the second week of December. I was honestly expecting Dec. 10th since it’s the second Thursday of the month, but perhaps the increased number of applicants along with corona impacted that. Right now the range is 15th-17th, but certain sites have posted that it is the 17th.

Can you link me these sites if you remember? Im gonna wither away if i have to wait 3 more days :sob:

Hi! I was just reading over an article that lists Harvard’s REA decision date to be the 17th. It would be great if it comes out earlier than that, but only time will tell.

I can’t link the article, but search “In Genius Prep Early Action Decision Dates”.

Hey guys I legit got reached out for an interview this past week. I interviewed this past week and I did in fact submit my application for the REA deadline. I’m assuming this means they’re still making decisions right?

Also they’ve contacted my counselor to keep them updated about like grades and stuff Is this normal?

Thank you

Hey, I’m really really sorry that you won’t be accepted REA (since you did both schools) but please consider that leaving your REA application open for Harvard might take away someone’s seat. This thread was stressing the important of withdrawing all applications once you get ED for a school and this is a similar idea. Please choose one to switch before Tuesday/Wednesday (if you can) and if you can’t and know you will be rejected, please please don’t just keep your application there “just to see”… There are so so many elite, top, great colleges out there and you might have a good chance there too. Thank you
