Same at Harvard. The interviewers do not see the application.
Any military veteran students on here? I have some questions I would like to DM.
Thanks,
This is a good sign. Take a look at Allen Cheng (prepscholar)'s description of what he saw when he got a look at his Harvard application file.
He mentions that the admissions committee was clearly interested in his violin ability. He had not submitted a music supplement because although he was good on violin, it was not his biggest strength, and he had emphasized other, bigger strengths in his application. But they circled it on his application with a question mark and notation, looking for a music supplement.
What this probably means is that they like you, and that if your music supplement shows ability, they’re hoping you would play in one of their ensembles. Harvard is (rightly) proud of their orchestra and other music ensembles. If you have strong ability on your instrument, this might get you in. Make the best recording that you can, and send it in.
Another tip: you can cue the best 3 minutes for them
ps Cheng’s application was filed in 2005.
Thank you guys. I sent in the recordings on Sunday night. Obviously keeping my expectations low because this is… Harvard we’re talking about lol.
Any idea whats the last date for interviews? Haven’t heard from anyone yet.
Same
Harvard admissions said they’ve had 55,000 RD applicants and alumni interviewers are working their way through them. Said the interviews will continue till early March.
Does everyone get an interview ?
Does anyone without an interview get into harvard?
When I spoke with admissions today, they said given the application volume, if some applicants are not alumni interviewed, it won’t be held against them. I got the impression that alumni interviews are important but not ‘critical’ for admission especially this year.
If you don’t get an interview, it won’t affect your chance of admission.
Hi, I was deferred and interviewed. Are deferred applicants typically interviewed again or is the initial interview from early action used in review again?
The latter
They also ask me to submit my mid-year transcript. Two of my APs have dropped to B+, will they affect my chances of getting in ? Should I submit my transcript ?
It might affect your chances, but barely. I doubt it’d be a deciding factor. However, you need to submit your transcript no matter your grades.
I do not think it is negotiable.
You ask the question like you have a choice.
Is there someone who does have privilege to the options?
Not sending a transcript is not an option for anyone. For the rare case of an international applicant whose school does no midyear reports, the school needs to explain to Harvard
