It’s a non-peer-reviewed national journal and they’re both research notes. I also talked about it in my letter of continued interest but didn’t actually upload them because they weren’t published yet, but they are now.
Who was your first author? Curious how you were able to get access to do research like that. Peer reviewed is much more impactful but only so much you can do in HS level and timeframe.

If my son has some achievements he would like added to his application, what is the best way to go about it?
I would update it as a logical sequence to the previous LOCI and connect it to the LOCI.
I know a young man from seven generations of Harvard in his family, and good stats, who didn’t get in a few years ago.
very good advice- thanks sm
If it is a non-peer review journal, I wouldn’t send them if I were you. In terms of academic merit, it’s not significant.
My professor family member agrees. Non peer reviewed doesn’t count.
Given the large volume of content that the AOs need to screen, they may not have the time to check if the publication is a peer-reviewed or not. In either case, submission may not hurt. Moreover, many AOs may not have any research background either.
Oh they’ll know.
Doing research and working to get published anywhere is laudable. I imagine a lot of Ivy applicants with family connections to research universities or hospitals can help pull strings. I have a friend whose DD did research thanks to doctor mom. She ended up in top 15-20 college with 1500+ and top 10 ranking at strong private. Now she’s set for med school.
Do not suggest to update on non-peer-reviewed pubs. Any update that is not significant enough may be viewed as lack of judgement on the applicant by AO.
D received an interview email on saturday and just finished it this evening. It went so well (1 hr). We were so surprised to get the interview email as it is already March. The interviewer actually lives in our city (same district), very close to our home.
Which state, if you don’t mind sharing?
We also got an interview request only last week.
We are in Canada.
Great to know that interview is still going in March. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. May I ask which part in Canada? Still waiting.
ON. Are you from Canada too?
yes
