for all of you who applied early action, what would you say was your most influential extracurricular/awards?
Anyone else worried about news of skyrocketing application numbers?
I called too and they said they didn’t have any updates?
Any intl students specifically from Africa who got interviewed?
are there more early applications this year?
Harvard has not announced numbers. But Cornell, Brown, and Duke all reported higher applications. With Princeton only offering RD, I suspect HYS numbers to be dramatically higher.
Do you think the extra applicants are just as competitive, or only “squeakers” who are aiming too high without testing…
No. While some of the increase will come from competitive applicants, I think many applying test optional would not have been competitive with tests.
But, will they be competitive now?
how were you able to get an interview from an admissions officer?
oh wow! Thats great! When did you have your alumni and AO interview?
What kind of questions did they ask? Did they give any reasons why you had the AO interview?
My son submitted his SAT score, but did not take Subject Tests.
I hate not knowing when the admissions decisions are going to come out, I feel like its 1000x more stressful
probably creative writing or my volunteer work
Just out of curiosity, how high were the SAT scores that people chose to submit? Where was the cutoff?
My D chose not to submit her scores. She had high 1400s. Only had the chance to take SATs once despite several attempts (test centers were repeatedly closed at the last minute). Multiple mocks were mid-1500s. D thought it would be best to omit. Hope this is helpful. Good luck!
I submitted mine: I received a 1550
Prior to scores being released, son decided to submit as long as he scored over 1500. Scored & submitted 1570.
I got a 36 (with one day of studying if I may flex), so what do y’all think: is that really going to be advantageous when there are other people who would’ve gotten sucky scores but have like 20 APs?
