Waiting for the results, and also being a bit nervous !!!
I wanted to know that if I get deferred, then what can I do to improve my chances for Regular Decisions ?
Seems like second interview increases the chances for an acceptance. Does anyone know of candidates who got acceptance without an interview or with only 1 interview?
Yes. Getting a 2nd interview request is very rare. Most accepted applicants do not have a 2nd interview.
ever heard of international students getting a second one?
I am an international applicant applying from England. I cant wait till the decisions come out. Usually around 6k ppl apply every year to harvard for REA. I am assuming due to corona they ll have less applicants this year
I heard that they still planned to take the usual number of freshmen this year.
@cmendez99 I saw another post where someone called the AO and they said results would be December 17th.
@mmkhalsai123 Stats from schools that released EA decisions earlier this fall, indicate a significant increase in ED and EA applications… Such as Georgia and U.Virginia, and a few others. Anywhere from 10% to 30% increase in the number of applications from previous year. If anything, with the Score Optional Policies for Class of 2025, you can expect REA and RD application numbers to go up as applicants feel more empowered to apply without having to submit test scores.
@cmendez99 There’s been a lot of press and information about this not being the case. Class of 2025 admits are expected to be the same. The 20% or so of 2024 deferrals may not have access to campus housing in Fall 2021, but admit numbers for 2025 should be the same, at least.
@daisddog2 Do you remember which thread you saw this? I hope they release sooner than later, for the sake of those who need to send out ED applications who were waiting on EA decisions first. If this is true, I wonder if it is because of an unforeseen increase in application volume this year and they need more time?
I saw on reddit that two different individuals called Harvard AO and they said decisions would be released between Dec 15-17th. It has been published that there is an increase in applications at other schools because of score optional, so it could be the reason at Harvard as well. Also, Princeton does not have a EA this year, which could be diverting the Princeton EA apps to Harvard or Yale, or other top schools. My guess is that with the increase in apps, they are trying to schedule additional alumni interviews and the result is that they will have to push back the decisions. Some were getting interview notifications as late as yesterday.
I am wondering how you get in contact with an admissions officer? I have had trouble doing this
You don’t. You use the general contact info as listed on the website
Harvard only tells you who your AO is if you get accepted.
- List item
Another couple questions I have for anyone applying is:
- Did you submit test scores (sat, act, apart?)
- What would you say your hook/most influential ECS to your application were?
Yeah, I am wondering how many of y’all are submitting test scores too.
I did
For the other question, mine are having a product development company, being a polyglot, and being rural from an underrepresented state.
I think they will come it two days. Prolly 10th of december
Do you all think that Harvard will admit more students from NJ this year, since it’s been a stronghold of Princeton in the past? Now that Princeton has gone RD, there’s a high possibility that these NJ kids will jump at the chance to EA Harvard. Will Harvard take the opportunity to compete for these well qualified students… If this is the case, I wonder how this will affect the total EA admit #. Up from the past years (because some of these kids may still end up at Princeton)?
Where did you get December 10th?
It’s because the last two years they’ve released decisions on the second Thursday of December. But I called admissions office and they said to expect Dec 15-17 but it always could be earlier…
no I dont think so, did yours?
