I guess it’s because there was such a deluge of applications, and they extended the reply date by a week, so interviews still going on. I can only imagine the atmosphere in that admissions committee zoom room!
Hi, I applied to Harvard RD and still haven’t received an interview request yet while I’ve seen some people talking about getting a 2nd one. Does this mean I don’t have a shot?
on the same boat as you, i think they just have lots of people to interview and not enough alumni availability. at least that’s what I’m telling myself.
I had a faculty interview that I signed up for and scheduled in October with an admissions officer or staff/faculty member. Does that mean I won’t get a regular alumni interview during RD?
Same here. Still no interview, even though supposedly there are many alumni where I live (Ontario).
MIT RD only got 2% admitted. Will Harvard RD round get more crazy?
Unfortunately it seems like it might be like 1% or something.
ohh my god, how many people applied and how many got accepted. this year is crazy.
Check MIT topic and you will see.
i saw that’s insane, but also don’t compare mit and harvard. mit cares a LOT more about grades and test scores whereas i believe harvard is more holistic.
Should I put my test scores in the “Optional Additional Information” section of the pre-interview form or not? I have decent scores, but I don’t know if I really find those important.
They had 50,000 some applicants so if you didn’t get an interview, don’t worry. Most colleges don’t do interviews anymore bc not everyone can get one. If you get a second interview that is a good indication that you are being serious considered BUT that is EXTREMELY rare and you have something on your application they want to know more about. But if you didn’t get an interview don’t worry when you see that someone’s got 2. It’s just bc the AO has questions for them. Most people who get admitted don’t have 2 interviews and a lot don’t even have one.
A deferral does not mean a rejection. It depends on the year, but 15-20% of RD admitted students were deferred. I read that on one of their news articles about that class makeup from past years.
My interviewer hasn’t updated me with a date for our interview. Is this a bad sign? It seems extremely late for an interview now because decisions come out in 3 weeks.
When did you get their first email and when did you respond?
I got the email Friday afternoon, but I didn’t have time to craft a response and send it out until early this morning.
If you sent an email this morning then it’s okay that they haven’t responded yet. They’ll probably schedule one with you ASAP since they are getting close but you shouldn’t worry Bc it hasn’t even been a day.
Haha I was just confused because in the initial email it said that I should make first contact with my interviewer, but then all of my friends that applied said that their interviewer emailed them first, so I didn’t know what to do. I’ll just try to stay calm though.
That’s interesting. When I had my interview they contacted me first. But that was also during the EA round.
