I thought it was weird too. The email I got gave me steps, the first of which was to fill out that whole pre-interview form. After that, they said to email or call my specific interviewer to set up a time to talk. What confused me was how the email had like three different contacts in it, so I didn’t know who it was actually from.
Interesting! My interviewer called me, set up a zoom time and sent the confirmation via email. I never did a “pre interview form.” My interview was in early January for RD. There seems to be very little consistency.
I had the same thing. No pre-interview form.
I thought the pre-interview form was kind of weird because it asked for things like gpa, favorite books, greatest achievement, scores, etc. In the email, it was clear that the interviewers have not seen our applications, but this form kind of felt like a mini application to me.
Well if it’s an alumni then they haven’t but I would assume that at this point it’s a AO and they have seen it. You’ll have to keep us posted.
I’ve never heard of a pre-interview form and it sounds a bit fishy to me, especially if you couldn’t tell who it was from.
The email itself was definitely from someone who works for Harvard, but within the message it said “From, _______” who is a different person who works for Harvard. I think it might have just been copied and pasted.
When my S21 had his Harvard interview back in January, the interviewer was very clear that she was not allowed to see his “stats”—GPA, SAT scores, etc.
She asked him to send a resume with all that stuff removed.
There was no pre-interview form.
My son’s interviewer shared they were to have no stats and no resume or anything so that they could complete the interview following Harvard’s structure. My son loved the interview he had last weekend.
My daughter was interviewed in Jan and had the pre interview form to fill out. She also sent her resume to the Interviewer.
My daughter had the interview for ED last year. Interviewer is in WA. No pre- submission required at all. She got differed for RD
Same!
My daughter was given a form to complete before the interview. RD
Statistically how many people in the past have gotten in RD without an interview? I’ve only done an AO interview in the fall and haven’t been offered an alumni interview.
Nobody outside of admissions knows and they are not telling.
The above applies to every school, do please stop asking the same question on multiple threads.
And if you had an REA interview, you should not have expected another one after being dec3erred.
I just got an interview request, is it normal to be interviewed so close to the decision date?
No. But this year is anything but normal.
Is there any point in adding an application update this late in the process? I haven’t received an interview request, but this update would be for something relatively significant relating to the publication of a research paper in a well-regarded journal.
Committees and all have most likely ended by now
There are only 2 weeks left for decisions, and seeing your update so late might quite possibly annoy the admission officers. Idk tho, do what you feel is right.
