I'm not sure which one is to be stated the correct way.
On Harvard.edu, it's Harvard College. Yet many other institution and magazine, like US News Report, call it Harvard University. And most of the people I know refer to it as Harvard University.
Though it might not be an important question, it's definitely something that needs to be address... which one?

Harvard College is the undergraduate institution. Harvard University is the whole establishment, including graduate programs.

It's harvard college

..same thing?

I thought so, but when I asked one of my friends (current H student) to check one of my essays, she changed all the harvard university references to harvard college.... who knows?

bmwdan13 is exactly right. Harvard Law School, Harvard Medical School, and Harvard Business School (and GSAS, School of Public Health, and so on) are all part of Harvard University, but Harvard College refers only to the undergraduate school.

In any application essays, you'd refer to the school as Harvard College (or just Harvard).
