Harvard Extension - What's the story with this? Apparently, a lot of people are doing this right out of high school. What's the difference between this and Harvard College?

Extension is basically Harvard University's version of Community College. It's not your typical Community College. It's Harvard's. It's taught by the same professors, but it's prices and hours reflect a different demographic. It's much cheaper, most of the students are older, and the classes I took were in the evening. I graduated from from Amherst College with a BA in Religion, then went into business. After a year in the corporate jungles of Manhattan, I decided to go to Med school. I didn't have all the pre-reqs, so I volunteered at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in one of the labs and took evening classes at Harvard Extension. I took Immunology and Biochemistry. The prof was great. He obviously loved to teach. He also taught at Harvard College. Teaching at Extension was his way of "giving back" to the community, I guess. The material and books were the same, but personally, I felt the tests were much easier. This was a great way to finish the pre-reqs for Med School for someone in my situation, but I don't think it's what you're looking for. The credits transfer. Maybe some people have used this to finish the basic core requirements and then apply to the 4 year program of their choice as a transfer student. Sounds like a great way to save, oh, about $100k these days. If you want to graduate from "Hah-vahd" though, I'd check out the transfer rates. I bet it's pretty low. You would probably have to be one in 10,000. If you want a great education for rock bottom prices, with most classes in the evening, so you can work, this is a great option.
