Harvard Law

I am in the process of selling a successful business that I have built over the last 10 years and I am contemplating going back to school. I am 30 and while not wealthy, I don't need to work for 5-10 years if I wanted to go to school. I never went to college or university (I had excellent high school grades I just liked business better at the time) so I am a little bit ignorant when it comes to academia.

I had a question about Harvard Law. (I realize that Harvard Law is extremely difficult to get into but I figured if I approach my studies with the goal of getting into Harvard that even if I fall quite short of that goal I should have the option of getting into a less prestigious Law program.) Anyways accoring to Harvard Law's website you must hold a bachelor's degree or expect to hold a bacheor's degree by August of the year for which they are applying. I emailed them for clarification and they explained the earliest you can submit an application is during you senior year of college. However if you look on their website they are going to be accepting applications for 2014 next September. With my timeline in mind I would be receiving my bachelor's in 2014 but in 2014 I would be applying for the 2017 or 2018 Law Programs. I assumed (If you had the grades and LSAT scores) that you could move from completing your undergrad degree to starting Law School the next fall. I would appreciate any insight on the possibility of making a seamless transition from obtaining a bachelor's degree to beginning Law School. Thankyou

Huh?!!

I am not sure I understand your message, but, I THINK what you are seeing is that next fall, i.e., fall 2010, HLS will begin accepting apps for places in the law school CLASS of 2014. Law school takes 3 years. So, you apply in 2010 to start LS in the fall of 2011 and that class will graduate in June 2014.

If you get your BA in May or June of 2014, you can go to law school in the fall of 2014 as a part of the law school class of 2017. To to that, you apply during the fall of your last year in college, which is the fall of 2013.

I feel like an idiot. Perhaps this is an indication I am not law school material at all. I just assumed when I saw 2014 that they were talking about when you would be beginning not finishing. Thanks

You need a bachelors degree to apply for law schools.

You have to survive 7 years of education.

if you get a BA you can go to law school
