Harvard Lifestyle

A couple weeks ago, I was staying with my older bro who is a second year who lives in the quad and I was quite suprised to find out what harvard was like. I've heard all the stereotypes and was pleasently surprised to find that his roomates and a lot of the people I met were just regular people who wanted to enjoy themselves as well as get good marks. Lets see, we woke up at 11 am each day and went to 2 hours of classes and then we either played madden or goofed off. Now don't get me wrong he had to study and read some DeTocqueville, but all in all the pace of Harvard didn't seem as cut-throat as everyone hypothesizes. Now I am as anxious as everyone else to find out on March 31st, but I think that since I visited I don't feel as intimidated by the aura of Harvard as I did before. Does anyone else have any Harvard visit stories?

When I toured this summer, I too was surprised by the atmosphere. I guess I was expecting there to be a lot of people just studying and not really knowing how to "let go" and have fun. The tour guide was a real person, he didn't act like the "Harvard genius" most of us hear about. I think most of the stereotypes about most schools are made up.

You can have a life and be a Harvard student.

true that, my alum inteviewer was a rhodes scholar and a varsity football player just goes to show that athletics and intellectualism are not mutually exclusive
