Harvard Now Requires Only Two Subject Tests

^^^^^
That’s not ridiculous at all and your isolated experience with the World History test does not make subject tests a joke.

I would also add:

If you mean to suggest that the World History test is so easy that the test is a “joke,” the data belie this: even among the highly self-selecting group that decides to take the test (the World History test has less than half the number of test-takers as any other non-language Subject Test), only around three precent obtain 800. That’s around 500 out of a graduating class of a few million.

I thought the Math Level 2 exam was easy. Therefore, it must be a joke. /Clamzoni logic

Haha, I’ve really stirred up the bee hive! I didn’t know we had so many ardent College Board supporters around here.

@ An0maly: Did I say the exam was easy? No. I put in over 40 hours of studying for it the week prior (First week of summer break). I believe the subject test’s credibility is somewhat lowered by the fact that a determined student can cram and achieve high marks, without actually having to prove a comprehensive understanding of the material through essays/shorts responses. Your logic concerning my logic is unsound. Live long and Prosper. ;)

It was a joke mate. Take it easy and good luck come April 1st :)

AHHHH I wish they’d done this for 2010 seniors!!! I’ve been thinking that my third subject test was the biggest thing working against me for Harvard!

^ Yeah, me too. 640 on physics :///

totally agree :frowning: stupid SAT bio

Clamzonio, I am not a CollegeBoard supporter but I stand strongly against baseless statements and silly generalizations.

i feel really dumb now, cause my test (literature) was a disgusting 590…

figures harvard would change their stuff as soon as our class has already applied, story of my life lol

Hi,

I am a prospectve Harvard applicant too this year. I kind of like this policy as i had trouble with my SAT 2s. My schooling system did not allow me to study a combination of social n natural sciences. I could go for either social or natural sciences. I opted for the former. As I love Harvard, i had to study physics from the scratch for the subject tests. Besides that, i appeared in mathematics tests. I am an int’l so world/us history is not offered in my school.

YES!!!

Now I’m done with SAT stuff in HS foreva!

I’m re-taking my SATs in June for fun. Maybe I can actually enjoy it this time around.

Maybe I don’t mind the fact that I had to take another SAT II (and took it twice, sheesh) if it means that the three test requirement stopped a few thousand students from applying. Like someone said before, now there will be even more students applying and driving down the acceptance rate.
