Harvard or Duke ED/EA?

Hi!

I'm trying to decide whether to apply to Duke ED or Harvard restrictive EA. I have 4.7 weighted/ 3.85 unweighted GPA at a respected public high school. My SAT scores were relatively low, I waiting to get my ACT scores in. I took the math 2, bio, and US history subject tests and got 760, 700, and 800 respectively. I have a lot of extracurriculars including sports and leadership positions in clubs.

I visited both schools and talked to students and alumni from each and really like both of them. I also have double legacy at Harvard from my parents.

My greatest wish right now is to get in somewhere early and be done with this whole process... So, where do you think I should apply early/ do I have a decent chance at either place?

Thanks so much!

“Lots of extracurricular activities?” Give us more details…
GPA and SAT subject tests are fine(though 700 is a bit lower than others).

Pres of model UN &pres of language club, student council, national honor society, I volunteer regularly at the local hospital, and I’ve had lab internships for 2 summers

By default duke is easier to get into.
IMHO you have a better chance in duke Ed. If you can’t get in duke don’t even try Harvard.

“IMHO you have a better chance in duke Ed.” I would agree.

“If you can’t get in duke don’t even try Harvard.” At best a generalization, certainly not a universal truth.

^I agree.

I know a friend who didn’t get in U of Michigan but got in Stanford.

But it’s true in general that Duke is easier by comparison
