Harvard SCEA Class of 2021

Hello Everyone!

I plan to apply to Harvard Earl Action since it has always been my dream school (before anyone tries to freak out and warn me that just wanting to go to school for its prestigious name is not why it’s my dream school. I have been exploring the Harvard website since I was in the 5th grade and fell in love with everything about the school. Additionally, I attended Harvard Summer School this summer and loved the professors/environment.) That being said I am aware that those who apply to Harvard SCEA are typically ultra competitive applicants with crazy high GPAs, mind blowing SAT scores, and some sort of elite credentials (possible recruits/researchers/national competitors) so I was wondering if I even stand a chance against all of these applicants.

Here are my stats:
GPA= 96.67% or a 4.0
Rank= 4
SAT (New)= 1330 (720 Reading & Writing, 610 Math) I retook the SAT last Saturday so I’m waiting on those scores
ACT= 30 (34 English, 32 Reading, 27 Math, 26 Science, 27 Essay)
AP Classes= (All 6 that my school offers) AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Statistics, AP Calculus AB, AP US History, AP Environmental Science
AP Test Scores= AP Spanish- 5, AP English Lang- 4, AP Statistics- 3
SAT Subjects= Taking the Literature and Biology M ones in November

Extracurriculars: 4 years of Minds Matter (SAT Prep/College readiness program,) Co-Founder and President of Fit Club (in school), Member of Running club, Tutoring everyday after school, Volunteer at local clinic, Co-Founder of Book Club (outside school), Science Matters Research Internship @ Columbia University

Summer Programs: Academic Leadership Development Academy (2015), Harvard Summer School (2016) - Created good relationships with my professors

Honors: National Hispanic Recognition Program, AP Scholar, National Honors Society, Honor Roll since 9th grade, Outstanding Achievement Award - AP Statistics

I am currently working on my personal statement and believe that it will be very powerful as it reveals one of my passions and my intellectual side.

Thank you to all who reply.

The one student I know currently attending H (a friend’s child) took only 3 APs and had a B mixed in with the As. Kid was very curious and interesting, and teachers thought this student made the classroom a better place. Kid never talked about an obsession with H and didn’t wear a H t-shirt after being accepted. I think kid got in because of who they were and what they did, not because of what they wanted. Best wishes for your college search.

Hey, just wanted to know whether you ended up applying REA and got in?

@societal_hazard i did apply REA and was deferred. Then, waitlisted.
