I am planning on submitting one of my research papers as a supplement to my Harvard College application. On the Supplemental Application Materials page on the Harvard website, it asks you to "please include a short statement putting the research project into the context of your academic interests and future plans". How long should this "short statement" be?

maybe a paragraph? but certainly not to exceed a page. just guessing.

i’m submitting one too. I just wrote a short paragraph that said what I’d done the research for, how it related to my major and what the topic was. :]

can I send my entire research paper? Its about 13 pages long (double spaced.)

Yep. In fact, they encourage you to send in the full paper. And no worries. Mine is 18 pages, not including the abstract and references.

Also, a thank you to hopingdad and smokey7.

haha yeah I don’t think they’ll mind 13 pages or I hopenot anyways…mine is 25 single spaced :D

wow, guys. Also, should i send a recommendation from my advisor with it?

How would an original wind turbine design look like?(with a national univ. prof’s reco?) What I meant to say was…will they really look at those pages? A lot of my friends said that they ‘wouldn’t have time.’

And can you send something extra besides that? I mean, a writing supplement? Because I put that wind turbine profile in the extra writing section of the commonapp.

Thanks guys! Hope your research projects blow their socks off.

What if I only send an abstract?
