Harvard Supplement Question

I’ve written most of the supplement, however, I have a question about their optional academic question:

“Your intellectual life may extend beyond the academic requirements of your particular school. Please use the space below to list additional intellectual activities that you have not mentioned or detailed elsewhere in your application. These could include, but are not limited to, supervised or self-directed projects not done as school work, training experiences, online courses not run by your school, or summer cademic or research programs not described elsewhere.”

One of my main ECs is a 12 hr/wk job I’ve had for over a year. The job is focused on customer service and I’ve had training sessions in conflict de-escalation, LGBT+ sensitivity, company computer safety, and disability sensitivity. I know they say “training experiences,” in the prompt, but it seems like the adcom is looking for more intellectual or academic pursuits, so my question is should I write about these experiences for this question? Or should I just omit it?

They said (emphasis mine); These could include, but are not limited to,

They are giving a “for instance.” If your experiences are important, then go ahead.

I think it’s great that you are getting customer service experience and that your employer offers these trainings. I honestly think the admissions folks will find your info refreshing. I hope you will include it.

Thanks for the advice @skieurope and @compmom ! I’m excited to write about and include my experiences as part of the supplement now
