SO I got that packet in the mail with the Harvard application enclosed (does anyone know why they sent that? I didn't request it or anything), and one of the supplemental essay options was "A list of books you have read during the last 12 months". Do they mean, literally, a list of all the books you read? Because if so that seems super easy. If not I think I might do the one about books that affected you the most, but that would entail significantly more work.

HI ROMULUS!
Now. I need. The. Harvard. Supplement-- pleasssee list more supplementary essay prompts. Why haven’t they posted this online!!!

ahhh!

^ I can’t decide if you’re a ■■■■■ or if you’re about to have a heart attack.
Anyways, to calm you down: the Harvard Supplement is optional. Here’s the direct quote from the packet they sent regarding “Additional Essays”:

Haha I assure you I am not a ■■■■■ but merely a hysterical rising senior :)

Soooo, Harvard has no mandatory special essays? Does that mean their essay requirements are only the short answer and the 1 essay on the CommonApp?

If so, that’s less work than I thought…
Thanks swimstar :D

easier application = more applicants.

besides if any of you guys apply to yale or princeton, both of those apps require an additional essay, and what i know a lot of people did is they used the same essays for yale princeton and then harvard too. thats one easy way you can do it to simply applying to those three.

Upenn requires additional as well, depending on which College you apply for ^

Can anyone confirm the number of essays/short answer for Harvard, and where they come from: eg. 1 essay CommonApp, 2 short answer CommonApp, 1 optional essay Supplement?

Bump
Please confirm Harvard’s written requirement as
1 essay CommonApp
1 short answer CommonApp
1 optional essay/list Harvard Supplement

Harvard does not require any essays beyond the two in the '10-'11 Common Application (one is a minimum of 250 words and the other is a maximum of 150 words).
