I just registered as a new student at my local community college, and I was wondering if I will have to enroll in classes right away in order to be able to schools like Harvard that have a requirement such as:

you are not eligible to transfer if you have been in a college for more than two years.

I don't know if I understood their requirements (posted online) correctly, but if I interpreted right, I'll have to finish all required courses in within next two years in order to be eligible to transfer, right?

Would this also apply to UC schools (UC Berkeley specifically)?

Lastly, do I have to take certain units in order to be considered a "continuing student" for next semester's class registration? I'm asking because, as you all know, continuing students get priority. Next semester, I would like to be able to enroll in classes that are desirable by LOTS of students that get full almost instantly (which I couldn't enroll this semester)
