<p>JohnAdams12 is right in that US-based students should be allowed to request extensions on any sort of admissions or scholarship reply deadline until May 1. </p>

<p>But in any case, I vote Duke in this case because the differences between Duke and Yale aren’t big enough to go into $50,000 in debt - especially when you are planning to go to med school and take on even more debt!</p>
<p>Our friend’s daughter had a similar quandary (full ride at u of chicago or Harvard no dough) last yr; she picked UC and after a 1 and a half, loves it and does not regret the decision. She was also thinking doctor/med school in four yrs, and so she thought she could save the money now for the future. From what I hear, duke is very good as an institution, and I suspect you cd equally get into med schools from there as from YH.</p>
