It's currently time to decide on which college to attend. As the title may inform, I have been fortunate enough to be accepted to HMU, as well as another large state school. I plan on studying E.E. or M.E. (and some CompSci) in college, and would like to know more about the research opportunities at HMU vs a larger state school. I know that it is an undergrad institution, but would the possible lack of research opportunities hinder my chances of entering a good Grad school, or would the increased workload and rigorous curriculum at HMU be enough? Secondly, what types of engineering research opportunities are available at HMU?

Please help! I would really like to attend Harvey Mudd in the fall, and I would like to be sure of the opportunities there!

HMC (for college), not HMU. Check out their website, there is a tab labeled Clinic and Research. The curriculum requires all students to conduct research or participate in the clinic program for engineers in the senior year. So, most of the professors have a research program that students conduct. Some students participate in research during their summers. Of course, students can apply for summer research opportunities elsewhere. Engineers generally work on a clinic project their senior year. Engineers work in teams on a engineering project funded by an outside company. The website should provide most of the answers.

And to answer your first question, nothing about going to HMC is going to hinder your ability to go to top grad schools. HMC is one of the biggest feeder schools (percentage wise) to top grad schools.
