I’m an art education major and I still haven’t heard anything from them. There’s 2 weeks left of April and we have to let other schools know if we plan to attend by May 1st.
This wait is absolutely ridiculous.

Orangexpen, where did you get accepted that you had to notify them by May 1? I got into CSU Fullerton, and we have until June 1 there. I got a deposit waiver, so I just accepted anyways. I figured if I get into LB and decide to go there instead, I could just call them and tell them that I changed my mind.

Annabel:

San Francisco State and Dominguez Hills. I have to let them know by May 1st

Wow I know that I have a super low gpa, figured that they would atleast let me know. But hopefully.

I have to let San Diego State know by May 1st and give a deposit of $400.

I agree…this wait is so dumb! Luckily, I have until June 1 to accept Fullerton…but I’d like to have a bit more time to think it over, if in fact I get acceptance to Long Beach. I’m pretty much set on Fullerton, though…if it’s this much trouble for them to just let us know we’re in…how is it going to be registering for classes, dealing with counseling, etc.?

I think its hard because so many students applied and all the budget cuts makes it harder for them to choose who will be able to get accepted. But it is a bit bothersome that their making us wait, but maybe it’ll be worth it.

this wait is ridiculous. Have any of you guys heard about csulb’s 13 unit cap? Im actually leaning toward fullerton now lol.

No I didn’t hear about that, wow that’s crazy. So they should let us know by next week

They better not notify applicants at the last week of april. That is really late considering some students have to submit their papers to sdsu,sf, and such.

anddddddd all csu are closing 2013 admission(not sure if its only spring) so they cant get rid of 16,000 students.

I know I saw that. I was considering applying for spring if I was not admitted but now that option is gone. I hope.we get notified this coming week.

And since we won’t have the spring option, next fall its going to be way more competitive, almost like the UC’s. Kind of scary when u think about it.

Donna, I’m pretty much set on Fullerton too! I even already accepted because I got the deposit waiver. Plus I’m really turned off to CSULB now because of the 13 unit cap. That means summer/winter session classes! I grew up in LB, so I would really feel at home there. Plus knowing some people that are going to be going there/ already go there would make going to a new school a lot easier. I’m not as good at making friends as I used to be. So Fullerton would be a bit of a challenge, but nothing I haven’t done before.

Honeyflower, I think that it will be pretty much impossible to get in next year, so students are gonna probably apply for the UC’s instead. What a nightmare this situation this is. It’s like now or never. I feel like if we are in now, we are safe. By the time we are done getting our degrees the economy will be starting to really recover and we’ll be in a great place for getting jobs… But if you can’t get in now, I think you’re screwed for quite some time. Did you apply for any other schools? I used Dominguez Hills as my safety…

Anabell
I completely agree with you. It’s going to be super tough. And I applyed to
CSULA
CSUSM
SDSU
I got accepted from CSULA and I have to let them know BY may1st. So yeah. I hope I have more options but I am greatful that I got accepted with a 3.0 gpa which is pretty low. Well they think my gpa is still a 2.8 well anyways. Next year is going to be soo competitive.

What other csus did u apply to?

Just secured my place on CSULB Turned down a CSUF offer (visa issue) and waiting for SFSU’s decision. I’m not from the US so I’m not so sure about how the credit/unit thing works. Can anyone tell me what the budget cut/13 unit cap thing is about? I know it sounds stupid but I came from a UK system ><"

Rickabily
The 13 unit cap is what I’m guessing is that during a semester u can only take 13 units, and not any more than that. This may make some people stay longer than needed to get their degrees. That’s what I think it is.

Honey, the other schools i applied to were Fullerton, Dominguez Hills, and Cal Poly Pomona.

I got accepted to DH and Fullerton, but I never sent DH and CPP my transcripts since I got accepted to Fullerton. Fullerton was my number 2 pick, so DH wasn’t even on my acceptable list anymore. And I applied to CPP just for fun, but it’s too far for me to commute

The way the 13 unit cap works is that you can register for 13 units, then they close the registration to you. They are going to open it up again a few weeks later and will allow students to register for an additional 3 units, or up to 16 units.

I still think its lame. :P

Still waiting here a a transfer student…this is getting crazy
