Has anyone ever heard of a Philosophy Club?

Hey everyone.
I'm interested in starting a philosophy club at my school, but I think I'm heading into unknown territory-- at least, that's what everyone here tells me. Has anyone ever seen/participated in such a thing? If so, what did you spend your time doing? Did your fellow students seem enthusiastic about it?
Thanks!

I went to one meeting for a college philosophy club... it didn't go well. it was a beginning of the year organizational meeting, but they pretty much just talked about what movies they wanted to watch, and what they wanted to do for fundraising. since it involved driving half an hour and staying out late and fundraising I didn't go back.

Yea, i have definitely heard of philosophy clubs, lots of schools around Portland has them.

I've never heard of it, but I'm taking an actual philosophy class this year.

My school in San Diego has a Philosophy Club. It was just a club some people would go to on Thursdays during lunch and talk about "life" basically.

Morality etc...

Here's a good thing to watch if you're gonna start one to get some ideas: This is what my teacher watched to get ideas (and he didn't give the guy credit LOL)

Have a philosophical discussion group. Pick a topic (whether from metaphysics, ethics, aesthetics or epistemology, or just any sort of dilemma) and discuss. That's your meeting.

No need for any "club stuff." What would you do with funds raised anyway? Philosophy isn't about that at all.

Yeah there weren't any funds coming in or out of Philo Club. It's just a bunch of people meeting and talking about life. We did give each other titles lol for apps tho =D

Never... and I'd never try it at my own school. No members.

We have one. I have no idea what they do or who's in it, but I've always wanted to join.

I think our school has one, but I don't know the people in it. It's difficult to have a good discussion without adequate research though, especially when dealing with real world issues.

ummm.... nop
really dont like philosophy much >.>

^ i love philosophy

i'm taking intro to philosophy at drexel next year. it's gonna be great, i hope.

That sounds like a good idea. I want to start a philosophy club because I'm interested in it. I think my school would let me too because philosophy is not taught in my school.
