Has anyone ever used "Shmoop" for any test prep? (Such as SAT Subj.)

Here’s a link to their website, specifically for the Japanese SAT II: http://www.shmoop.com/sat-subject-japanese-with-listening/

They offer prep materials for all subject tests/AP tests/regular SAT. Their website looks professional and I don’t think they’re scamming, but I’ve never heard anyone talk about their services and I can’t find any reviews online. Is anyone familiar with this website/company?

I used their website for AP Prep because I took a class online (FLVS) and they gave me a free code. I liked the review but I think using free Sparknotes material + a review book might be more useful.

@stvika Yeah, of course. I love Sparknotes/Barron’s, but with the Japanese SAT II (the one I linked), I have no choice. There is zero prep material to be found for that test.

Would you say their review matched the content on the test? Were there ample practice exercises/practice exams?

Yup I used Shmoop for AP prep too (Euro, Psych self study) but mostly for the drills + practice tests. They’re definitely not a scam.

I just deleted half my post because I went on Shmoop and checked for you: they have 2 practice exams, some drills for each grammar review section, and kanji flashcards.

You know what, I have access to all the test prep material until June 30. If you’re interested, PM me and I can give you my login info so you can check for yourself! (I hope I’m not breaking 123904872350 laws by doing this…)

There are lots of errors in Shmoop practice tests, just warning you; my school gives us free access to it all (it’s not a scam), and I’ve tried using it before. It’s pretty good for book summaries and stuff, but I don’t particularly like their standardized test prep.

Shmoop isn’t a scam; I used to use it for English a lot and it’s what most people at my school use in lieu of Sparknotes because the material is far more engaging.

@Kyuutoryuu for the AP I took the material MOSTLY matched up, some of the stuff was a little out of the range of the stuff we were being tested on. If there are no other options I would recommend using it. Maybe check out the practice test in the SAT II Blue Book to see what you need to improve on the most.
