hey, feel good about being waitlisted… maybe it had something to do with FA (this happened last year with exeter). just keep in mind that you were too valuable to reject ;)

call! they’re there to help, and i swear they won’t bite (hopefully). i don’t really like talking on the phone, either, but they’re not THAT scary… :)

my daughter is on waitlist at exeter. Looks like , Exeter is still trying to find how many spaces filled and how many more available. Hopefully, They will announce the result for
waitlist candidates. I guess, at this time, they may be looking at “No FA” list.

I talked to Admissions this afternoon. They told me a few weeks ago that they would look at late applicants if they went to their wait list, and to call back after 4/10, to see if D should get the few missing pieces in. Today they told me they are not looking at late applicants. Sorry this isnt more specific, but Id say it doesn’t look good.

I think this was just another terrible year for wait listed kids.

does that necessarily mean one or two waitlisters won’t get a shot? maybe it just means they are not very underenrolled. trying to find a silver lining here…

Waitlisted at Andover and Exeter.
Anodver sent us postal letter indicating that class is fully enrolled. If some one drops out by july 1st at the time of initial payment, They will let us know.
Exeter has not sent any letter yet. When contacted by phone, admission officer told us that chances are slim due to over enrollment.
BTW, We have applied for FA and asked them to consider even if the FA is not available.

Overenrolled at Exeter. hmmm It seems like they admitted more this year than last, but it only seems that way. I have no numbers to back up that claim.

exeter enrolled 30 or 40 more applicants than last year (the number was like 2070 compared to 2030), such that the kids who are doing a fall term abroad aren’t even guaranteed a room in their old dorms.

on the topic of waitlists: a teacher who works on the admission board told me that about 5-6 people get off the waitlist each year.

I’m pretty sure the waitlist is closed for good. They said they were overenrolled, so even if a few kids drop out, they won’t need to go to the waitlist. The other schools gave an option of staying on the waitlist for the unlikely chance that you might get off, but Exeter didn’t. I don’t think there is any hope. So sad.
