Rejected today.

Bummer.

rejected today.

congrats to all of you guys who got in, i'm happy to see a nice compilation of NYU 2013.

but if you think your ECs-based rejections are bad...

i was given the generic boot - given my own circumstances, i thought my ec's would give me a good shot at stern (I thought my situation would be anything but generic..) .. I had weak SAT2s, but after reading through a few posts, it clearly was not the determining factor.. there's no doubt that i'm upset about their decision, but it's ultimately a building block for a future shot at NYU

SAT Is: 2080 (M660, R620, W800) - 2s: (M560, USH600 - baaaad day)
GPA: 3.5 (3.2 suffered first two years of HS, boosted up to a 3.7 Junior)

ECs:

Founder/Creator of GR8 Society, netted around $10,000 in earnings within the timespan of a working month, establishments in New York City as well as Toronto. Worked with highly acclaimed music artists to deliver promotional content.

Internet venture.. seeking to streamline college searching. Considered how I was formally 'introduced' to the true complexity of running a business. It was my own personal gateway to business..

Worked with small businesses in the area to manage content, market brands, and design interfaces - notably I worked with Lamborghini and ASUS after winning in a national contest. I also am a lead designer for one of the firms that I used to consult (but was ultimately absorbed by) for.. but i actually end up doing operations work, because the head of the firm is not too bright of a guy

New Jersey All-State Orchestras (Assis Principal Vln 2), Regional Orchestras (Violin for 12 years)

RUMUN/NHSMUN in one of the area's best Model UN programs (EBMUN)

Pretty strong community service.. I belong to a private organization, and it's pretty much where I spend my free weekends at. I certainly don't do service for the hours..

International relief efforts in Dominican Republic, followed by an interview appearance with a pretty large broadcast news channel in Asia (Da-Ai)

Varsity Swimming (swimming for 6 years)

and in the end, I believe my ECs somehow ended up looking fake (even designed a sheet especially for them, and packaged my application accordingly). it's disheartening to see that NYU can't even register my ECs.. but then again, i've been met with so much skepticism with my amount of work i've done at my age that it was probably inevitable. it's absolutely horrifying on how i've spent years of my high school life doing actual business work / displaying real, and not "simulated, teacher-ordained leadership roles" (and supplementing my interest with internet/physical material), to be superseded by a higher-scoring academiac whose only ECs pertained to school (but, i'm happy for him regardless). i guess my activities pay the dividends, but it would have been nice to get even more opportunities and support from the city's own business school.. but unfortunately, that'll have to wait.

anyway.. here's hoping you guys will hear from me again. given the results of the applicant pools on CC, i'll try a hand at some ivies.. but for now, in financial terms, it's most healthy for me to attend state school then xfer over..

congrats to '13.. will be joining you soon

I'm also thinking of going to a lesser known school and then transferring over.

For example, perhaps Fordham/CUNY Baruch for 2 years, and then Stern for the last 2 years.

It's definitely a bummer; getting rejected made me doubt my ECs.

Rejected as well :(
