I posted this under another thread and thought I should start a new thread -

I have been following this forum for several months now. I know someone who has several acceptances to molecular medicine PhD programs and is planning on making a decision as soon as she has carefully compared all aspects of the different programs so she chooses the program that will be the best fit for her. When one of the schools offered her admission by phone a couple of weeks ago, they wanted a decision on the spot. She obviously wasn't prepared at that point so was told she would have until a certain date, which was less than a week later. Is this practice acceptable? Should she feel obligated to make the decision over a month earlier than the official date otherwise having to decline the offer at that school?
