Has anyone heard yet?

So I just got a strange email from Hartt requesting my S to attend their Spring Reception. I thought this email to be a little odd, since he still had not been notified if he had been accepted. So I called, and to our surprise he was accepted… they sent his letter about a week ago, but we still have not received it… My S is so excited, best news of the day :stuck_out_tongue:

Got the same email. Called admissions. D accepted to BFA MT!

Congrats… did you get you letter of acceptance yet?

No letter yet - they said late this week or early next.

Yes, redscorpion, the email was requesting that we RSVP for the Spring Reception. Looks like an acceptance you, too! Congrats everyone!

Thanks ashleybashley. I just sent an email trying to get verification. Don’t want to celebrate yet… Of course then we will need FA! Ugh.

You are so right, redscorpion! We can’t get excited until the FA info comes in. Hartt is one of the more expensive of our options, so these questions are likely theoretical, but… Can anyone speak to Hartt’s history as far as merit aid is concerned? I know that 2 years ago they gave a combined award (academic and talent) all directly from the Hartt School. Is it still done like that? Also, what’s a ballpark figure for their typical award for strong academics (GPA 4.12 and SAT 2260)?

Hey everyone… I just copied and pasted this scholarship info from Hartt website… Hope this helps and they are generous with the scholarship

"Undergraduate Tuition

All full-time bachelor’s programs $31,804 (per year)
Undergraduate Diploma $22,478 (per year)

Room/Board (average)
Housing $8,500
Meal plans $4,776

Fees
Allow about $1,200 each year for miscellaneous fees.

Undergraduate Scholarship and Financial Aid Information
All applicants, regardless of program, are automatically considered for Hartt’s Performing Arts Scholarships (PAS). These scholarships are awarded by the faculty and based on the student’s audition (for performance applicants) or interview (all other majors). No separate application is necessary.

Performing Arts Scholarships range up to full tuition.
Only full-time undergraduate students entering in the fall semester are considered.
Awards are not reviewed for increases in subsequent years.
Performing Arts Scholarships may not be combined with any other grants or scholarships (i.e. academic awards) administered by the University of Hartford."

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is the “undergraduate diploma” program?

I had the same question!! So…if our child hasn’t heard and did not receive this email am I to assume she is not being accepted??

Here are the actual fees for the 2014/15 semester at Hartt:
Tuition $ 31,804
Room $ 7,328
Board $ 4,920
Support Fees $ 1,034
Registration Fees $ 60
Technology Fee $ 460
Total $ 45,606

Re Financial Aid, every child is eligible for a Hartt talent scholarship which is determined at the time of audition. I cant for the life of me recall when we were notified about this scholarship, it may have been in the acceptance letter from Hartt. While it states up to full tuition, that is not usual and there are not that many. Re financial aid from University of Hartford, the only thing an MT is eligible for is standard subsidized and unsubsidized loans. No merit or need based scholarships are available to Hartt students. Hope this helps.

After receiving the invite to the reception my S emailed the director of admissions for the Hartt school to ask about his status. We have not heard back. Who did others contact?

I called Hartt and was told that although the USED to grant academic AND talent awards - now they just have talent money. No merit for academic. :frowning: My DD was admitted to the Hartt School (ballet) and has yet to receive her financial aid package. We were told that they have til April 1st to send them out. We expect something next week, hopefully.

redscorpion, I just called the phone number on the email. I believe it was the Admissions Office.

redscorpian6 - contact the theatre division coordinator Ashley Malcolm amalcolm@hartford.edu Phone: 860.768.2462

moregrayhair - there has been no merit or need based fa for at least 5-6 years that I know of. based on your fafsa your daughter will be able to file for subsidized and unsubsidized stafford loans and that’s it, unless she receives a talent scholarship

My S got his acceptance today. He is excited! Letter was interesting. It just says accepted to the Hartt School. No mention of MT program. ???

D got her letter today, too. At the very bottom of the letter it reads: “Major: Music Theatre, College/School: The Hartt School.” It also reads that she was “awarded a Hartt Performing Arts Scholarship in the amount of $$” but it does not say whether that amount is total or per year (renewable). Anyone know what this means? (It’s too late to call them today.)

Oh you are right ashleybashley. It does say his major on the bottom. Thanks. Argh! All these letters are different! My S did have an amount in his letter but it does not say if it is renewable. Guess you need to call for your amount. Or maybe it’s fill in the blank!!

It did have the amount filled-in, I just did not think it appropriate to divulge here. I will PM you. "Fill-in-the-blank Scholarship Amount! HA! Wouldn’t THAT be fabulous!

So…We still have not heard from Hartt. I have been told for a week or so that all letters are in the mail. I emailed and asked if we could have the decision by email and was told that they are not allowed to give decisions by phone, email or in person…yet people on here were told by phone??? Expecting it to be a no for my daughter…anyone else told this??
