Has Anyone Used a Professional Consultant in the Boarding School Process?

Our family lives in southeast Georgia. One student two years older than my son is the only child he's ever known of
who went to boarding school, and that was Episcopal in VA. My son is considering New England.

If a consultant is recommended, then how does one go about finding a competent one?

Thanks much

There is a group in DC I heard that’s quite good. http://schoolcounseling.com/index.html

Read their advice. You can search for a consultant on their site. I recommend using a counselor or group practice with experience with boarding schools, rather than just colleges. I gather fees can vary wildly, so don’t be afraid to “comparison shop.”

Be aware that there are different types of boarding schools. Some are “therapeutic,” for students who have challenges of some sort. Others are academic. A good counselor should be knowledgeable about the type of boarding school your family needs.

We’re also from Georgia, the greater Atlanta area.
We utilized a New England-based consultant remotely while targeting boarding schools in both the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions. Feel free to PM me with questions.

Howard Greene and Associates are extremely knowledgeable and have been in the business for almost 50 yrs. They are in NYC and I think Boston or CT. Im sure they will do remote.
