Has anyone used an iPad for college textbooks?

Can you tell me your opinions/experiences?

I think the kindle works better for that purpose. The screen can be viewed in bright sunlight.

A couple studies have been recently done and the students who were part of the student said that none of the electronic readers were adequate for illustrated textbooks. However, the tablet industry is working on it, because they want to control that market, so try back in a year.

The kindle works well for books where there are no illustrations or the illustrations are not important.

Yeah the textbook industry hasn’t really embraced ebooks as of yet, but with the success of the iPad and the massive amount of tablets and ebook readers they’re bound to catch up sometime with ebook support. I actually would prefer a textbook on the iPad or an droid tablet as they are faster on each page turn and allow a much greater accessibility to the rest of the book. I’ve owned both a kindle and nook in the past. Loved them for normal books, but as much as I normally turn back and forth in a textbook I think it would really start to wear on me when using a basic e-reader.

Just be careful because some professors customize textbooks and it’s unlikely you can find e-versions of those and using the original version can mean trouble with page numbers and missing material/problems.
