My S had NO problem with the essay and short answer. The supplements are a bigger hurdle than I expected. Writing in a creative, fresh way about why he is applying to these schools is proving difficult for him.

Am I correct in thinking these essays ( the Why---(insert college)? essay should reflect what he will bring to the college community and not just what he hopes to get from the college community? Or only if they ask that specifically? I know I've read that the total application should make clear what the student will bring to the table, not just academically but personally. I'm wondering if this bears repeating in the Why X? essay or if the lists of ECs tell the story.
