Have a GREAT time!

I rarely start a thread but I just wanna wish all the kids or sons and daughters of posters on here a fantastic enriching time as they go off to these summer programs. If I have it straight, several people here are leaving for CMU pre college, several for high school program at OCU (sorry to not know the name of it), some to CAP21 I think, some to Steinhardt, some to Northwestern's program (might be Cherubs, not sure), some to UM's summer program, and some to Stagedoor Manor. There are likely others as well that I don't know about or recall. But I know lots are leaving or just left and I hope we will get news about the programs and how the kids like them and if they do any shows, hear about roles or just anything !

Most of all, have a super time!
Susan

PS, I am just referring to the high school kids on here but also wishing the best to the sons/daughters or students on here already in college who are doing some amazing summer theater and performance things. Pretty talented bunch. When you see the shows, let us know how those went, thanks.

aw thanks so much-that's so sweet!

Susan--Thanks! I'll tell my D your good wishes. She's SO EXCITED to be off to OCU soon. She leaves the day after the dance recital, which is July 9. I'm SURE your D is having a blast at SDM her last time! Gee, I wonder what she'll be doing NEXT year at this time. That will be strange for her not to be at SDM.

MTMommy, I will be thinking of your D as she gets to OCU and can't wait to hear what it is like for her and also about Footloose. That is one show I do know (unlike Jekyll and Hyde!). I have no idea what my D will be doing next summer but it is time to move on....no more SDM for her even though it goes to age 18 and she is still sixteen.....this chapter in her life is gonna be sadly over for her. But I think she will find that same kind of intensity and passion and type of kid at her theater program in college and so that is exciting. I can hardly believe she is going to COLLEGE or that I am letting my country bumpkin in NYC, oy! Believe me, however, she is not thinking "oy" like I am! She can't wait! She does admit she has no clue about the subway and her way around but she'll learn.

Next year at this time, who knows? I'd like to think she will do summer stock some place, likely not VT (most here do not pay, then again she is being paid to do a show here when she gets home from camp but nothing that high). I hope the fact that she will just be 17 1/2, though going into soph year in college, won't be problematic but I figure, ya cross one bridge at a time. She has created and will direct a kids' musical theater program which will put on a musical cabaret production she'll write this summer and I suppose she could do that again, having a client base now but I'd like to see her go off and do some summer theater some place. I can hardly think that far ahead though!

So, everyone come back and share how these programs are going!

Susan

dont forget interlochen!!!!!

several cc ppl are goin to interlochen for high school musical theatre. (we are performing the rarely done musical RAGS).

i am totally excited and i know the other campers are too! camp starts tommorow and runs for 6 weeks. wish us luck!

Have the BEST time at Interlochen. I knew I forgot some of the programs you guys are heading too!
Susan

Just returned from dropping Broadway Wannabe off at CMU. She's rooming with her CC connection. She was excitied also to run into 2 kids she knew from Interlochen last summer. As expected, however, Pittsburgh was (and will be for the next week) VERY HOT.

As warrented, I will post comments about the summer program either on this thread or the "Has any one heard from CMU Pre-college" thread so next year's crowd will know what it's like. (I remember last year, I read all the summer program posts avidly.)

Hi! I'm new here, I'm also going to the summer program at OCU, everyone I know thinks I'm crazy though because I'm from NY. I can't wait though and I'm glad to here of others who are going!
