I'll give you guys a 50% for reading comprehension. We kind of got away from the 'relative' aspect of the 'famous relative' topic... but still if we got all of our relatives, our 5th cousins 3 times removed, and the other connected connections we have, we'd have an interesting party!

Next question:
Have you guys ever MET (like actually met, not just seen or been close to) any famous people??

I'll start:

I met Roger Staubach (Hall of Famer, and THE QB for America's Team-- aka. the Dallas Cowboys-- back when they were America's Team)...it was like 6 years ago, so I was about 10 or 11... my family and another family spent an hour or two with him and a couple of other former Cowboy players.

(I'm not a Cowboys fan, just so you know)

I'm related to Abraham Lincoln and Cornelius Vanderbilt (and no, I didn't apply). I only know this throught Genealogy work (Lincoln is my 6th cousin six times removed, Vanderbilt is a 2nd cousin 10 times removed).

Whoever said they were related to Lincoln...maybe we're related? :D

I've met Bill Bates, footballer....

also Winston Groom, who signed my copy of Forrest Gump.

I also met Park Overall, a little-known actress from Empty Nest, a sitcom in the 80s?90s? and a few Lifetime movies.

My cousin's dad (no relation to me) had dinner once with Tennessee Williams on a military base. Years ago, of course.

I share a common ancestor with a reasonably well-known Confederate general (not Lee or Jackson, but he was up there).

A second cousin (whom I have never met) had a serious relationship with a member of a royal family (second? or third in line to the throne of his country). Again, this isn't like...Prince William. But it's a country everyone's heard of.

And for just random connections...
Whitney Houston's daughter went to my preschool. I was out of the school by that time but my younger sister was still there.

my mom is mischa barton. does that count?

will that help me get into princeton?

My great-grandfather would have played the Tinman in the Wizard of Oz, but he had an allergic reaction to all of the face makeup. I so wish he had done it!

sheetmusic and doodlesmastah- a really good friend of mine went to middle school with Mischa Barton's little sister!

My cousin is Sheldon Patinkin, one of the founders of Second City comedy in Chicago. Only famous if you care about theater. And his cousin is Mandy Patinkin, actor...so not my blood relative but third cousin by marriage.
