Remember me? It seems to never end... moving .. now "really" moving.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'll have to move out at the end of Dec. seeing as to how I dont get along with my father.. and he just brought that up..today (we are moving out right now .. to a smaller place and it seems like I'll have to move out myself once I turn 18 at the end of Dec)

My real question is .. what information do I need for financial AID or anything else.. an "approval" from him? (I'm just about done with the UC app... what other information besides the information asked there would I need for the top privates?)

I did apply for his FAFSA pin... what now?

In any case I move out and I'm not able to get some of the info.. what can I do.. (What if my father does not wish to share this information?)...

Oh well. the only thing that will be bad is paying rent.. seeing as to how bad it's getting in San Diego =-(

BTW: It does upset me that my father has made himself believes I will not "help" him once I "make it"... and hes turned kind of hostile .. trying to support my brothers instead even though they dont seem to really like school. I guess he doesnt realize Im trying my best in school and that I would be more than willing to help if he didnt act the way he does.

I am truly sorry for what you are going through.
Do you have any knowledgeable adults in your life -- guidance counselors, teachers, ministers, friends' parents-- who can help you with your college and scholarship questions?

Is it possible for you to move in with a friend's family or with other relatives?

Unfortunately, I don't have the answers to the questions that you asked, but probably others here can help you.

theonekid, I too, don't have specific info, but am sure someone will come along who does.

I am thinking, in particular, that you may qualify as "emancipated" for the purpose of financial aid. There may be some steps you have to take and the "rules" may work against your qualifying this quickly, but your situation should mean you don't need to use parental income for financial aid, imo, and I hope we can find a way. Last year, legendofmax had a different, but related situation and was able to work things out. You might want to PM him if we don't come up with enough info here. I'm told he sometimes posts on the Penn board.

It's extremely difficult to qualify for emancipation for financial aid. He can use the search tool on CC because there have been other threads on this subject. I doubt that he'd qualify.
