Have you admission rescinded anyone?

My son got into a near ivy league school. During his senior year he took 3 college courses at the large, local university. This was NOT dual credit but regular university classes. Exceptional high school students are permitted to do this at this university. He made 2 A's and 1 D.

The problem was that my son missed one major exam in one of these classes. Mainly due to his inexperience in college and trying to juggle both high school and college demands. This exam was one of only three which resulted in a zero and a D in the class. All other grades in this class were A's. The instructor was very rigid and had a strict no excuses policy and would not allow late exam or partial credit.

Question: should we submit this transcript to try and obtain credit for the 2 classes he did make A's in? We don't want to risk his admission being rescinded because of that one mistake. But getting credit for these classes would help financially. It is a financial stretch to attend this university.

Does anyone have any experiences with admission being rescinded?

Can he wait until sophomore year to try to transfer the credits? I can’t imagine they would care at that point. After a year of doing ‘awesomely’ in college, it would be hard for the school to make any noise at all about it.

If he needs the credits in order to place out of a class, or freshman requirement, then it may be more tricky.

I could be very wrong, since I dont’ have experience dealing with colleges these days!

Read the fine print on his application, including supplement, and offer letter. Many will indicate you are required to submit all transcripts from your HS and/or university work. Also, did he indicate he was taking these classes on this application? If so they’ll expect to see the final transcript.
