Yeah, but you never see Stanford up there. Last time it was number 1 was in 1988 lol. Here's a link: U.S. News Rankings Through the Years

ha! i knew it. that makes so much sense. of course princeton is #1 and penn is #61.
rankings are total bull in general though. harvard is definitely not #1 to everyone; it's all relative to each individual.

121 Cornell
145 Tulane
Emory in the 100s.

okay

like I said, all rankings are bogus, even US News.....I think US News rankings can be just as ridiculous, there's no way of ranking colleges

All rankings are not bogus, however ones with one-size-fits-all methodologies are. Some websites (such as phds.org ) attempt to remedy this by letting you choose your own criteria for what is "good" and the site ranks accordingly the schools.

I think Forbes is worse than most though. I laughed when I saw GT was ranked #501, but then I realized Forbes is probably catering to their (apparently) LAC-loving reader base.

well it's kinda ridiculous to mix LAC's and national universities in the same rankings which US News is at least smart about and separates them, two different types of schools

even those sites where you pick the criteria can be bias too

This is a joke, right?

Cornell College destroyed Cornell University....these ranking don't consider the strength of the student bodies at all

Haha. I think whoever wrote this ranking must've just been sitting in a room and saying, "Man. How do we make the most messed up ranking?"

Macalester 126, gtfo.

That is one of the stupidest things I've ever seen published. If Forbes provides business/financial advice with the wisdom they do college choices, their Forbes 400 would soon be paupers. I can see the Forbes staffers now, bragging about how their Johnny got into #13 Wabash, and rubbing it in to the co-worker whose Megan was relegated to #23 Stanford.

Guess what college is ranked 2nd to last. Guess.
