Which is more likely to provide merit scholarships?

My uninformed opinion/guess is F&M. (Is this a quiz?)

Haverford doesn't have merit scholarships.

Haverford's financial aid is need-based. F&M has a fair number of merit scholarships:

Thank you, helpful. I did not know that about Haverford and their site is not terrific.

Max - Have you visited each school? IMO Haverford is one of those schools where (and I mean this as a compliment) if you have to ask then you're not the right kind of student for the place. Other examples: "Are most days sunny at the U. Puget Sound?" "What's the average winter temperature at Middlebury?" "Are the RA's strict at Pensacola Christian?" "How important are fraternities at Washington and Lee?" and (my favorite) "Do many of the students at Tulane drink?" There are lots of schools that offer merit aid. Good luck with your search. Check out Curmudgeon's thread!

There's a pretty big difference in strength of student body between Haverford and F&M, although F&M is definitely on a roll. (A few years ago it wouldn't even have been seen as an appropriate safety for students who really wanted to go to Haverford; now it's popular in that role.) Haverford, by the way, can be VERY competitive with aid for economically challenged families.

I'm not positive that Haverford is completely merit-free, by the way. Back in the day, there were definitely a handful of merit scholarships.

EDIT: I take the last back. Their website is pretty unequivocal.
