accepted at haverford - waitlisted at swarthmore. aside from the "go to the school you like better" deal, what would you do? Should I bother staying on the Swarthmore alternate list? Does anyone have verification to the claim that all Swatties do is study? Are they similar enough to where you could get as good an education at Haverford as you could at Swarthmore? Does the difference in rank really matter? Etc etc. . thanks guys.

Education at Haverford is still tops. My teacher's daughter went there and said her grad school courses were easier than Haverford's. No slacking there. Have you visited? I thought the schools had very different feels when I visited, and that Haverford students definitely seemed to have more fun.

For what its work, Princeton Review ranks Haverford one of the best 5 colleges for undergrad work in the country (and that includes HYPSM); Swat is just a couple of points behind.

I don't believe for one minute that all Swat students do is study. But they do make a fetish of telling other people that's what they do - which would give me pause. (Is it a reputation worth relishing?)

Both great schools. Had it been reversed, would you have stayed on Haverford's waiting list?

As a Haverford alum who also spent some time at Swarthmore, I can attest to the different feel of the campuses. The best way to compare is spend some time on both campuses. Take a stroll through the campus libraries and be sure you pick up the latest issue of The BiCo News and The Phoenix (the respective campus newspapers), which will give you different insights. Haverford is a terrific place.

UC Santa Cruz or UC Irvine?? please help me!!
