Having a single

Hows having a single dorm?
Is it better than having a roommate who doesnt talk to you?

I had a roommate I never talked to. It wasn’t that bad. I’d prefer a single if I was living in a dorm though, I’m really over the whole roommate thing. (And the whole dorm thing.)

singles are nice. No shareing with others no nothing :)

I lived in a single for a year or so. I had a roommate for a few months but I moved out on him cause he was driving me nuts. Singles are the way to go. I spent days at a time not talking to anyone.

I still live by myself in an apartment now.

If you get along with your roommate then a double isn’t too bad. It’s weird having to share your space if you’re used to having a room to yourself, but you can get used to it.

My year in a dorm, I was far far away from home. I spent a huge chunk of time at my desk in my room. I think that drove my roommate out a bit (he hung out with friends in next door dorm rooms).

I’m in a small apartment on my own now. It’s really nice to be able to have the TV and lights on when I want, turn the lights off and while watching TV, pace around, do whatever. I think if I had to be in a dorm, I would definitely love a single.

Ironically, it seems like living in a single keeps you single though. If you’re early in college, seems like having a roommate gets more people into your life, thus making it easier to meet more people.

i would say it is better than having a roommate that doesn’t talk to you, but other than that, i think doubles are better. i’ve made connections through my former roommate(s) that i probably would have never made on my own. networking is key and at the VERY LEAST your roommate is a tool to be used to meet other people. at best your roommate is an amazing friend.
plus, if you get lost/dont come home/die one night at least you have someone looking for you…
