I'm coming to Caltech for 10 weeks in the summer to do an internship at JPL and it looks like I may be staying in the dorms!

My long term boyfriend will be coming to visit me during this time... is this sort of thing allowed in the dorms or can I get in trouble for this?

If you have a roommate, I would ask them first. Other than that, I doubt anyone will notice. As for what the "official policy" is, I have no idea.

I doubt its any different. If you're a student here, you should be treated like any other student here, with the rights and responsibilities thereof. I won't swear that's the policy, but any deviation from that would be dumb, and most of the policies here aren't obviously dumb.

Apparently, I'll probably have my own room as there's more space over summer, but I might send the housing folks a quick email to check that it's ok, because like me my boyfriend would be coming aaall the way from England so I don't want him getting kicked out or whatever :D

The only issue I can really think of is insurance but I'll just ask super-nicely ;)

wow! lucky girl! Similar thing happened to me when I was in Boston over the summer. lol. Have fun at caltech!!! I would like to do the same, working in a lab at JPL over the summer. lol.

Some of the summer students get singles, some don't. If you do get a single, whatever, no one cares who is in your room. I wouldn't necessarily assume that you'll get a single without talking to housing though.
