I don’t know whether if I should do computer science or informatics. What major has the best job prospects?
@justint95 A lot of “job prospects” after graduating from University is highly dependent on how you spend your time there. Computer Science is definitely in high demand with today’s economy, however, it is a highly competitive field and will require you to network and establish yourself as hard-working and skilled to your possible employers. Informatics is a newer field, but I believe just as important as Computer Science. While Computer Science focuses more on the actually computing of software and code, Informatics dabble in this (even consider Bioinformatics) but also talks about the workings of a computer, systems, etc.
I guess overall, the two most important things here would be:
- Do your research. Pick the major you know you would like and do well in. Look at the courses offered and the types of classes and their description.
- Network a lot. Grab internship opportunities, join clubs, get to know professors.
Good luck!
