From the College Board Blue Book

If y is directly proportional to x^2 and y=1/8 when x=1/2 what is hte positive value of x when y=9/2

So, if y=1/8 when x=1/2 that means y=1/8 when x^2=1/4. So y is half of x, so when y=9/2 x should be 9. The book says the answer is 3. I don't get how. Any help would be appreciated.
